BPM-CL is a lab-scale powder cyclone that is used with the MTI Jet Mill and offers optimum recovery of sub-micron fines. Undersize sieve fractions are directed through an anti-static vacuum hose through the Cyclone and collected in a threaded glass receiving bottle. Material contact parts are constructed of stainless steel or glass. Support stand allows for stand-alone operation, or the unit can be mounted to the base of an Air Jet Sieve.
1. Pharmaceutical Research & Development
In pharmaceutical labs, recovering every milligram of expensive Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) or excipients is critical. The BPM-CL is ideal for:
API micronization: Collecting sub-micron to micron-sized particles after jet milling, ensuring maximum yield of high-value compounds.
Sterile/aseptic processing: The stainless steel contact parts (SS304) and smooth surfaces allow for easy cleaning and sanitization, meeting GMP standards.
Formulation studies: Separating and collecting different particle size fractions for blend uniformity testing or dissolution studies.
2. Chemical & Fine Chemical Industry
For labs handling hazardous, abrasive, or ultra-fine chemical powders, the BPM-CL provides safe and efficient collection:
Catalyst powder recovery: Capturing fine catalyst particles after grinding or reaction.
Pigment & dye processing: Isolating colorants with narrow particle size distributions without cross-contamination.
High-purity chemical synthesis: The glass receiving bottle allows visual monitoring of collected material, while the stainless steel construction prevents contamination.
3. Battery Materials Research
With the rise of lithium-ion battery technology, precise control over particle size of active materials (NMC, LFP, graphite, silicon) is essential. The BPM-CL is used for:
Anode/cathode material classification: Separating fines from coarse fractions after jet milling to achieve optimal electrode performance.
Lab-scale material development: Collecting small batches of novel battery materials for coin cell assembly and testing.
4. Ceramics & Advanced Materials
In ceramics and materials science labs, the cyclone supports:
Ultra-fine ceramic powder collection: Recovering sub-micron alumina, zirconia, or silicon carbide powders after size reduction.
Nanomaterial research: The high efficiency design ensures even nanoparticles are effectively separated from the gas stream.
Composite material preparation: Collecting precisely sized fillers for polymer or metal matrix composites.
